Maryport & District Sea Angling Club Spring Open Competition Saturday 21 May 22

This is an annual event with a great turnout of both top class local and travelling anglers from Scotland, the North East and North West of England.

The prize money is all on catching the largest single flatfish, either a plaice or flounder and the largest round fish. That could be a dogfish, thornback ray or bass.

Best baits at this time of year will be black lugworm both gutted wrapped and fresh, peeler crab, maddies, squid, sandeel, mackerel and bluey. Those baits will catch both the flat fish and the predominant round fish at this time of year.

Look out for a full match report and photos on the blog. Tight lines to all that compete🐟🐟
